Nevertheless, he disputed one particular crime he was facing, which was against a young boy.

Ruben was remanded in custody ahead of a additional proceeding on late November.

'Sweet game'

The prosecutor, handling the case, described the defendant's actions to the judicial body.

She said his those affected were disadvantaged youngsters who were participating in a summer program which he managed.

The defendant played a "sweet game" with the minors, the prosecutor said, in which he would enter the boys' rooms when they were preparing to sleep and ask them to ingest treats "as quickly as they can".

She stated to the judge the man had conducted this practice with the boys "for many years", and minors had previously become sick the next day.

She explained the defendant had been able to explain this repeatedly as the minors being "overstimulated by activities", until his family member had worries in summer 2025.

The prosecutor continued: "This year his stepson had worries about the activities, with valid cause.

"They resolved" to have a look in the man's possessions."

The prosecutor stated items including lubricant, petroleum jelly and syringes were found, and his family member notified the police about his worries.

She said the defendant proceeded to conduct the "candy game" with six children that night - July 26th - and they were everyone unwell the next day.

"The police had not responded by that stage," she added.

The police watchdog, the Independent Office for Police Conduct, previously told that it was investigating law enforcement's management of the incident.

The prosecutor explained the youngsters were struggling to walk due to their sickness, so the stepson contacted the police again.

She stated Ruben then engaged in the "treat game" in a area of five youngsters.
